Review: Nodame Cantabile

Nodame Cantabile

Alex: What does the word genius mean in anime? Whenever i’ve seen a genius, they’ve been utterly stupid, had a strange personality or had the script. Yet…this noitaminA beauty of a series does a genius perfectly, and that alone means that there’s something special about this anime.

I can’t describe what it is. Charm? Maybe. After all, watching the characters interact is so perfectly done here…sure, Nodame is utterly stupid, but her character development throughout the whole anime is just perfect. I mean, she goes from a useless girl to someone who’s capable of holding the show by herself. If that isn’t an improvement, then I don’t know what.

Now, the obvious. Yes, on paper this sounds boring, doesn’t it? There aren’t any giant robots, any trolling, or any magical girls. There’s a genius growing from high school into the world of work, and a girl in love with him who follows him. Ugh, this is so hard to describe.

Its like, musical slice of life which is amazingly charming and soo worth a watch. Sure, the visuals are a little sloppy, but when you’ve listening to some amazing background music which brings the theme alive, you don’t really notice or care.

I couldn’t count the amount of times I let out a huge grin during this because of how much fun I was having watching it. If following the characters and story isn’t interesting enough, then maybe the comedy will keep you watching. It always hit the spot and had me laughing out loud again and again. If you’re not a comedy kind of person however, then maybe the drama is for you, or perhaps the music will provide every bit of satisfaction and entertainment you need.

Alex’s Score: 9 Meeps out of 10 (Great)

Mimi’s Score: 9 Meeps out of 10 (Great)
