Pokemon: Best Wishes 2! Episode 3

Survival at Onix Island!

A few days into the training camp, and Hikari’s already bored…it doesn’t look like it takes very much. Taking a vacation from hunting, the go to an empty island nearby chasing rumours of an unusual Onix.

But to be honest, that’s not what the episode’s about. This episode was all about the birth of the ultimate girl combination, pairing Iris and Hikari up together, and the Onix were just an excuse to get the two of them seperated from the group. Be it playing with Pokemon that they’re not used to, constantly walking into dead ends or teaming up to vine-swing through the jungle, the episode really focused on the chemistry between the two…and I have to say, it worked pretty well.

Apart from the duo of girls, they wanted to focus on Meloetta’s form change, showing the first transformation into Step Forme, as her song woke up the shiny Onix and thrashed the rock Pokemon with a dance-like Close Combat. An episode later, and the new quadrio of characters have grown pretty nicely, with Meloetta also having a respectable amount of development and a fair amount of hints towards the role Meloetta’s going to be playing in the plot to come.

Pokemon: Best Wishes 2! Episode 2

Piplup VS Pansage, the Magnificent Battle!!

Arriving in Sazanami Town, the trio accompanied by Shirona and the stalking Meloetta, now fond of Satoshi, head to the villa that Shirona uses for her Summer vacations. I wouldn’t mind a villa where I can stay during these hot months…@_@

Once there, they meet up with Hikari and her Piplup, and everyone sits down to talk and catch up with each other, and find out what’s been going on. In the end, Hikari’s just been to Elesa’s fashion show and the Pokemon Musicals, before getting nabbed by Shirona. It’s your pretty basic introduction episode, where everyone brings out all their Pokemon to say hello. Hikari’s Pokemon are pretty impressive, though. Mamoswine, Togekiss, Pachirisu and Quilava.

I feel that Hikari’s reaction to Meloetta is more realistic than the others. Meloetta’s a mythical Pokemon, after all, treating it like a standard Pokemon doesn’t always cut it. The Pokemon’s reactons to Meloetta are probably better, but that’s not where the torture ends for Hikari. With a 1v1 battle between Dento and Hikari taking place, Pansage vs Piplup, each showing off in different ways, it becomes tasting time before anyone knows what happened. I get Dento’s enthusiasm to see Hikari battle, as the way she does it is really…human. Using Bubblebeam as a shield, Ice Beam to break the Solarbeam and Drill Peck to return the Bullet Seeds are the human touch that makes the difference from just calling out moves.

It wasn’t a great episode, but it was the episode which was always going to happen, the re-introduction episode to Meloetta, Hikari and the plot twist of what the Rocket Gang is after: the Relic Song, the biggest mission in Rocket Gang’s history. It’s not like it’s being hyped up or anything…so I get really curious when I see certain episode titles. Titles like “Satoshi, Iris and Trip: The Last Battle!” in the TV guides.

Pokemon: Best Wishes 2! Episode 1

Sing, Meloetta! The Melody of Love!

Right, here’s how i’m going to cover it. Pokemon names will be in their english format, so Kibago becomes Axew and Yanappu becomes Pansage. It looks like a lot of Pokemon from previous regions appear, and i’m not familiar with the Japanese names for them.

So, this is what season two is going to be about. We’ve already had the introduction of Shirona, (Cynthia), and her awesomeness was shown off pretty effectively. Out of all the champions, I always liked her the most. I mean, when you compare her to Gary, Lance, Steven, Wallace, and the rather lackluster Alder, she clearly comes off as the one with the best design. I have to say that I think I like B2/W2’s champion more than her, though. :L

Be it cooling the lake with her Glaceon or the flair she used with Garchomp, I think the anime took the personality she displayed in the games across perfectly, but adding that little extra touch to make sure that he’s not just a female badass, but a female badass with personality. In fact, the only problem I had with her was that she remembered Satoshi so well. I didn’t finish Diamond and Pearl’s anime, so I don’t remember if they ever fought or anything, but she sees loads of trainers every day. She must have liked him or something…or it’s just plot convince. .  Who can tell?

Meloetta also made her first major appearance here, after an attack from Team Rocket injured her. I like that they’re trying with those guys, I really do, but I can’t take them seriously when they have a Woobat and a Yamask. Evolve them or something, already! After Meloetta’s appearance, Iris, finally meeting her idol(So that’s where she got it from…), asked for a battle. Axew against Garchomp was never going to be anything more than a brief chance to train, but it was nicely designed. The only minor issue i’d have is that Dragon Rage would be effective, since it takes off 40HP…and probably more effective than Giga Impact.

With Hikari making her appearance with Piplup at the end of the episode, next week will more than likely be devoted entirely to the reunion.

Summer 2012 – Who’s Blogging What?

Now, we may have this up a little early, but now that there are 5 writers to keep track of, it’s hard for Alex to manage sometimes D: So, here are all the writers and what they’re blogging.

Alex, in blue, tired of mysteries, hands Hyouka over to Doofus, leaving him with Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle 2  and is adding Pokemon: Best Wishes 2 onto his list. On top of that, he’ll take Arve Rezzle.

Mimi, in green, was last to the pile of stuff left over, so is left to blog Natsuyuki Rendezvous, Rinne no Lagrange Season 2 and Moyashimon Returns, the latter two of which will have catch-up posts dedicated to them shortly. Mimi’s also dropped Kuroko’s Basketball, since she got hugely behind on the show and couldn’t be motivated to catch up.

Liam, in pink purple, who didn’t have any yaoi to cover this season, decided to go with Blood Lad.

Dusk, in yellow orange,  all sad now that Fate/Zero ended,  is blogging Sword Art Online and La Storia Della Arcana Famiglia. However, the gap that Saber has left in her heart will never be filled until Fate/Prototype gets adapted. She’ll also be covering Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita, which seems to bring out the best/worst in her writing disposition. And, as a last minute decision, she’ll also be blogging Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon II for no interesting reason.

Doofus, in brown red, who doesn’t care that Fate/Zero ended because he’s a boss, is going to cover some shounen in Hunter x Hunter, and will be making a catch-up post for that. On top of that, he’s doing Hyouka which Alex sent to him.
