I’ve really enjoyed myself over the past three seasons with this show, as it boasts a huge amount of things which it does right and only really fails to do a few things. However, as much as I love this series, I find it near impossible to give it a high score.

So, the finale of three seasons worth of build up and character development, or, in other words, about 70 episodes down the line we hit the ending. Episode 70 itself was the first for this series in a pretty shocking way, and things won’t be the same moving forwards.

Kaito, You Lose
With Jin turning into Orpheus at the end of the third quarter, the fourth one looks to have world destruction back on the cards. On top of being superpowered, Orpheus can also employ tricks of the mind to fool people into seeing visions. Though for a supervillain, he sure makes a very quick escape with Enigma, after tempting him with visions, which could be taken to be flaunting his own power around…or that it’s just lazy scriptwriting.

Or; in other words, Episodes 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16. This kinda indicates it’s been a while…a long while. Seven episodes worth, actually…to recap, Raetsel ran away with Jin after we had the episodes with Freecell last time. It’s about time for the plot to actually get started!

A slightly off topic observation, but I noticed that Kaito’s the odd one out in the group of puzzle “masters” as he’s the only one without a trench coat. Completly off topic, but considering that it’s the return of old characters like Elena (Gammon’s love interest), Souji, and Freecell, what better time to bring it up?
I Just Get that Feeling
Last week I was hoping that Rook would get himself involved…and this week, Rook says that he’s going to go and hunt for the answer with Kaito; who’s still pretty torn up about how Raetsel insists that her Jin is the only real Jin. With Rook putting in an appearance and running off with Kaito and Raestel together, everyone’s worries should be unfounded…shouldn’t they?
I Still Believe & Eating Delicious Stuff Solves Most Problems
Starting the episode with Raetsal transferring to the school. I don’t know if this was a trigger or not, but all of this leads to Jin getting his memories back…or at least, someone dressing up as Jin to try to shake Kaito.
Well, since there’s just so much out this season that I want to watch, i’m going to talk about it like this, where I cover groups of episodes at the same time when I can find the time to watch them all. It’s not the best format to do this in, but considering i’m largely on my own now, this is the easiest way for me to manage. Sorry if you don’t like it… ^^
Ratsel… & You Know Nothing
Well, here’s the show which nobody thought would get a third season. I gotta be honest here, and say that regardless of how much I like this show, I don’t think there’s any point in a third season if it’s not going to do something new. The second series pretty much sorted everything out…in my opinion.
